Financial Assistance
Financial assistance is available to relieve the
financial burden caused by cancer. It is offered on an individual
basis and may be subject to re-evaluation. Genesee Cancer Assistance
operates solely on monies raised by volunteers. All funds raised
stay in Genesee County to benefit area patients.
Resources, Guidance
Genesee Cancer Assistance is present in the community
to give non-medical information about cancer, and to provide pamphlets
and brochures when appropriate. We try our best to help patients
and families deal with the emotional, physical and financial problems
caused by cancer.

Gift Items
We have wigs and turbans available in our office.
If a wig in stock does not meet the patient's needs, we are happy
to assist with the purchase of one. We can refer our patients to
local suppliers who are most compassionate and helpful.
Prescriptions
Genesee Cancer Assistance will pay for some cancer-related
prescriptions. Payment will be directed to the patient's pharmacy.

Home Health Care
Genesee Cancer Assistance may lend items from
its loan closet to cancer patients. Items not in the loan closet
may be bought or rented from an approved medical equipment company.
Financial assistance may be made available to aid in the purchase
of items not covered by insurance. Funds may be provided to cancer
patients receiving home health services. However, aid is subject
to financial limitations.
Child Care
Financial aid may be provided to help cover the
cost of child care while a patient is receiving cancer treatment.
Financial aid may also be provided to assist in child care costs
associated with siblings of a cancer patient whose parents accompany
their patient child to treatment.

Telephone
Assistance with long distance telephone charges
directly related to the patient's cancer may be made. A copy of
the phone bill must accompany the request.
Transportation
Genesee Cancer Assistance will, upon request,
provide transportation to and from the hospital or approved appointments.
Requests may be made by the patient, family or physician. At this
time, only patients who are ambulatory may be assisted. Mileage
reimbursement also is a possibility to patients that are transporting
themselves or being transported by a family member.
